The past two nights it has absolutely poured down.  The most rain I’d seen in Southern Sudan before this was mostly 2 minute bursts where any water drops on the ground were evaporated within 10 minutes of precipitation ceasing, and one 10 minute downpour.

So color me surprised when it suddenly started raining torrentially, complete with thunder and lightning, for several hours both nights.   Ground was even still wet in the morning.

I know by the time rainy season rolls around I’ll probably end up cursing the rain on a daily basis.  But for now, it was nice to have the sound of sheets of rain cascading onto the metal roof of my room.
