My friend who lives near one of the aforementioned ridiculously painted roads wrote me an email to update me that there are now yellow lines painted down the middle, too! Wow!
Only took a month for them to find yellow paint apparently.
The city really has changed and cleaned up quite a bit in the past several months. Trash picked up, receptacles deposited, main areas gardened, trees planted, and even the John Garang memorial near the ministries is no longer a barren field, but a gardened area with some bleachers for public events.
Or, as my friend put it: “Seriously, if this country had independence every 4 months or so, they’d have Walmarts and shopping malls built by now.”
